Programmes can be one-off or recurring, and a scheduled collection is usually the cleaner option, since retired equipment stops piling up in corridors and the compliance file assembles itself as you go.

What actually happens to the data before hardware leaves my building?

Every drive is logged by serial number before it moves, not after it arrives at a yard, since that gap is normally where chain of custody breaks. Deleting files or formatting a drive isn't destruction, both are reversible and neither leaves evidence. The exposure is wider than laptops too: networked copiers cache documents on internal disks, routers hold configuration and credentials, and diagnostic or lab machines often hold records nobody has put on the disposal list. We treat all of it as data-bearing by default and issue a certificate of destruction against every asset tag.

A complete programme covers a site survey and scope before any price is quoted, an asset audit with tagging against your register, valuation of anything with residual worth, certified data destruction logged per serial, transport under manifest with documented custody, and a disposition report that reconciles every asset to its outcome, whether that's resale, recycling or destruction.

How do I choose an authorised e-waste recycler?

Under India's E-Waste Management Rules, the compliance obligation sits with you as the bulk consumer, not with whoever collects the material. If your vendor isn't authorised, your file doesn't close, regardless of what receipt they hand you. Ask for authorisation details at the evaluation stage, not after the contract is awarded: a licensed recycler provides them without hesitation, while a dealer who deflects the question is usually reselling your material to whoever actually holds the licence, and pricing you accordingly.

Do you refurbish devices instead of recycling them?

Yes, where it makes sense. Devices are functionally tested, repaired if economical, data-wiped and graded before recycling is even considered – reuse recovers more value than material recovery does. Anything that fails testing is routed on to ITAD or e-waste recycling instead.

Anything electrical or electronic that has reached the end of its working life: computers, laptops, servers and networking gear, phones and tablets, printers and peripherals, televisions and white goods such as refrigerators and air conditioners, printed circuit boards, cables, and the batteries inside all of the above. Under India's E-Waste Management Rules, it also covers the components and consumables sold with that equipment, not just the finished device.

Is it illegal to throw electronics in the regular trash in Tamil Nadu?

Yes. E-waste is classified separately from municipal solid waste under the E-Waste Management Rules, and disposing of it with household or general commercial trash is not permitted. It has to be channelled to an authorised collection point, a registered recycler, or an approved take-back or exchange programme instead.

Yes. Lithium-ion, lead-acid, UPS and inverter batteries are accepted at every centre and handled as hazardous waste from the point of collection, never mixed with general e-waste. They are packed, labelled and transported to processing under the safety protocols that class of material requires.

Collection is free for both bulk commercial consignments and QwikScrap household pickups. Where the material carries recoverable value, we quote a buy-back price rather than a collection charge; where it doesn't, collection still costs nothing.

It is the document that closes the compliance loop: dated proof, tied to your asset tags or consignment weight, that the material was actually processed by an authorised recycler rather than handed off informally somewhere downstream. For a business, that certificate (alongside data destruction certificates for any data-bearing devices) is what an ESG report, a CPCB or TNPCB audit, or an EPR filing actually needs to show as evidence, not just a collection receipt.
